McClaren took a tinpot side like Boro and made them finished 7th, won the league cup and reach a European final. I'm sure Fergie will praise the bloke, likewise with Ste Gerrard, likewise with Redknapp, Barton, Jimmy Smith... So it did poor at Florist, but Villas-Boas flopped at Chelsea and he got the boot. Is he a bad manager too? He's brought in one of the greatest keeper coaches around, one of the best DCFC midfielders I've ever seen in Simmo is now on board and I'm pretty sure there's more to come through the door - wouldn't be surprised to see Eranio or Van Der Laan.
