Wake Me Up When September Ends! - Month Review.

Right,

Where to start! Looking towards this month, it had a lot of fall hazards, not to mention drawing a leicester side we just don't ever seem to beat away from home, and ending at the city ground against the gumps. We had 4 away games, with 1 home fixture against a team that again, I can't remember us ever beating!

We started well, but we needed to! the most winnable game of the month was against Millwall away, they were in dire straits and we really needed to put the knife in, and we did. Best performance of the season to date, with no player in the side recording a bad game, which is very rare! The second game was against another side in a bad way despite not looking like it - for me the best team we have played so far this season, with a lot of their key players turning up - Defensively very good, and a lot of quality in midfield but luckily nothing much in front of goal. A good point against a good side, having a good day! Then Reading happened, a strong first half which was our best this season was tarnished within minutes of the second, very poor mistakes and we paid the price and annoyingly enough, they had enough at the back to get in front and keep in front. Next up, Leicester - again, a solid enough first half which was tarnished by a poor second half. A very sloppy game which was changed by bringing on a fresh, alert and dangerous match winner in knockaert who changed the game completely, his introduction alone bled life into Leicester to push on, and finally the Forest game! We played okay, perhaps could be construed as 'well' in some parts but was undone by a set piece and couldn't break down an efficient and structured Forest side with man mountain in Jack Hobbs at the back - if he wasn't there, it could have been a different score-line easily for me. He was that good!

The sacking of Clough, has obviously dampened the spirits of many fans and the next 3 months are vital to us and our goals - unfortunately they're probably going to be used as a 'bedding' in period for the new manager (whoever it may be) but with 3 home games coming up, all against teams we should be beating IMO we have no excuses! And by next month we should be firmly back in the mix for me, and will be disappointed with anything less.

As for this months ratings, here they are in full glory (just on players who've played regularly):

Lee Grant 5.8

Adam Smith 6.0

Jamie Ward 6.3

Johnny Russell 6.2

John Eustace 5.5

Overall, the team performance has been rated exactly the same for both months at 6.071.

And the Ambitious POTM for september goes to Craig Bryson early performances ensured him to this, and he got points on the board - Jake has competed well for it, don't get me wrong but the 2 games earlier in the month were very strong for Bryson which has given him a competitive edge. Bryson scored a 9 at Millwall, 8 at Bolton, 5 at reading, 6 at leicester and 8 at Forest whereas Buxton scored a 8 at Millwall, 7 at Bolton, 7 at Reading, 6 at Leicester and a 8 at Forest. given them the same score, but Bryson has put stats on the board!

As for where this leaves us over the course of the season, well the list of regulars and their overall performances says (for players that have played 6 games or more):

1st - Jake Buxton 6.6

2nd - Craig Bryson 6.5

3rd - Chris Martin 6.5

4th - John Eustace 6.2

5th - Johnny Russell 6.1

6th - Lee Grant 6.1

7th - Adam Smith 6.1

8th - Will Hughes 5.9

9th - Jamie Ward 5.7

10th - Kieron Freeman 5.7

11th - Richard Keogh 5.6

12th - Craig Forsyth 5.4

Chris Martin is the leading scorer with 6 goals and Russell and Bryson joint second with 4 goals. As for assists Craig Bryson is leaps and bounds ahead with 4 assists and Jamie Ward, and Kieron Freeman in joint second with 2 assists.

And the Team Of The Year so far against us...
