Wolves make Doyle move

Wolves are reported to have met Reading striker Kevin Doyle's £6.5million release clause.

Newly-promoted Wolves are looking to bolster their squad ahead of their return to the top flight with some proven Premier League quality.

Doyle enjoyed two seasons in the elite division with Reading, bagging 19 goals.

Following their relegation in 2008 he stayed at the Madejski Stadium to help try and fire them back into the top flight at the first attempt.

But the Royals' bid to go straight back up failed after a late-season slump and now Doyle is set to leave the club.

He has a clause in his contract that allows him to talk to any club that bids £6.5million for his services, and reports from Berkshire claim he has already met Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.

News of Wolves' interest is sure to alert rival suitors, including the likes of Everton, who have been strongly linked with Doyle and his Republic of Ireland international team-mate Stephen Hunt.

Wondered which Doyle it was going to be  blimey if he goes to Wolves they will do fine next season - what a strike force they will have then - Doyle scored 56 goals for Reading, that's an awful lot of money though for a championship player.

Doyle hasn't scored in ages.

I bet he has, you should see the women in Hull on a night out. Young footballer out in town, as he gets his wallet out you will see their legs opening in sync.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have completed the signing of striker Kevin Doyle from Reading for an undisclosed fee.

Sky Sports News revealed on Monday that a deal was in the offing, with an offer in the region of £6million accepted by the Royals.

The Republic of Ireland international has signed a four-year contract with the Premier League new boys.

Doyle, 25, joined Reading from Cork City in 2005 and netted 55 league goals in 154 appearances.

He told Wolves' official website: "I'm delighted to get the move sorted and can't wait to get going.

"I spoke to the manager and chief executive over a week ago and came to the training ground to see everything.

"I've been making my mind up over the last couple of weeks and am just really pleased the decision has been made.

"The facilities here are top class and it's great to be going back into the Premier League again.

"I'm sad to be leaving Reading because I had some great years there but I'm going with their blessing as well which is nice.

"This is a fresh start."
