vicky-27 Posted May 11, 2009 Share Posted May 11, 2009 King 'regrets' nightclub incident Ledley King has played more than 250 times for Tottenham Hotspur Footballer Ledley King said a "night out with friends went too far" after he was bailed following an allegation of assault outside a London nightclub. The Spurs captain was questioned on suspicion of an assaulting another man in Soho in the early hours of Sunday. In a statement on the Spurs website, Mr King, 28, said he had apologised to club manager Harry Redknapp. The player has been bailed by police until mid-July while inquiries continue into the incident. Mr King's statement reads: "I sincerely regret that a night out with friends went too far. I have apologised to Harry and I fully appreciate that, as a professional footballer, I have a duty to behave in a responsible manner." 'Out of character' He added: "I am assisting the police with their inquiries. "Anyone who knows me, knows that much of what has been suggested is totally out of character.
