El clasico

Funny the reaction to the FA Cup nowdays, it's not so long ago that Sir Alex was criticised for fielding an under strength side and his lack of interest. It now seems that the general public agree with SAF, my oh my, whatever next.

On the el clasico, it put a whole new meaning to man marking.

The FA have the fault regarding the FA Cup..

It was them that sent Man Utd to Brazil in 2000, and them who made Man Utd miss the FA Cup that season.. They did that to enhance their bid for the 2006(?) WC which we lost anyway..

Now both cups are treated with a chance to use the reserves (back-up players) to keep them happy.. This has plusses and minuses, a minus being that it undervaules the cup but a plus for teams who don't have a chance of winning the league.. If the best teams fielded their strongest 11 for the FA Cup you'd never have the likes of Cardiff, Portsmouth, Stoke, West Ham, Middlesborough etc. making the final.

How often is it that you get 2 powerhouses in the final.. ie. Chelsea vs Man Utd.. once every ten years or something.

2007

2005

2002

2001

That's 4 times in the last 10 cup finals, but I see where you're coming from.

You also need to look at the draws in those years as well, look at this year Man City v Man Utd and now Liverpool v Man Utd

Chelsea put a strong team out against Portsmouth that won 4-0 and Arsenal put out a strong team v Leeds

I think we've seen Millwall, Pompey (x2), Southampton, WHU, Everton, Cardiff, Stoke in the past 10 years..

It's also crazy to think it's been 6 years since Arsenal won the FA Cup and 7 years for Man Utd

Chelsea have won 3 of the last 5 FA Cups and without Man City and either Liverpool/Man Utd they'll be likely for another final spot.

Anyway back to el clasico.. Pepe, terrible player and a dirty thug.. The complete chav of football

the premier league is the main aim now.clubs would rather finish fourth from top or fourth from bottom, than win the FA cup. The spanish clubs take each competition seriously.Barcelona have won 13 out of the last 16 trophies available to them. That is an awesome record.
