Day
Paul Green is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering knee ligament damage in Derby County's game at Cardiff City on Saturday. The Republic of Ireland international midfielder sustained the injury in the first half of the 4-1 defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium. Green visited a specialist on Tuesday, where it was revealed he had ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament in his right knee. The 27-year-old is going to be brave for the next month whilst his medial ligament heals, and will then move on to anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction when the specialist feels he is ready to undergo surgery. The Rams' medical team expect Green to be out of action for up to nine months. Meanwhile left-back Gareth Roberts was also assessed by the specialist on Tuesday afternoon, where it was confirmed he has medial ligament damage. However outlook is much brighter for the experienced defender, although he is set to sit out Derby's next two games, against Coventry City on Saturday and Leeds United next Tuesday. WoollyJumper
I wonder if the club's medical staff have considered the LARS treatment for this type of injury. There are a number of AFL players here in Australia that have had it and are back playing within about a third of the time.

Ramalama
Will they strap him up, give him an injection and tell him to play right back on saturday?
Redshaw_Ram
I ruptured my ACL playing football around two years ago. I had to have part of my hamstring taken out to create a new ACL. I haven't played football since. Really nasty injury; here's wishing him a speedy recovery.
smiffy
So lets see now, delay the operation for a few months so he misses all next season, then bring him back too soon so he is only half fit for another season, yep sound about right:frown:

JohnClement
Dk about Lars I think our medical staff are still using leeches with a bottle of Bells as the anaesthetic. Greeny is IMO consistently our best midfield palyer and is a huge loss. This really weakens us for at least the first half of next season.
EdinburghRam
Im not sure if they do that surgery in the uk yet. But it wouldnt be the worst choice to take. He's not young, he turns 28 on the 10th April (you wouldnt do this surgery for any young players).
WorksopRam
I've got a feeling we could've sold him for a fair price in the summer. I guess that's scuppered now.

aussie_ram
..9 months is in my opinion optimistic and there are a number of injuries in his knee which could take a lot of time to heal.
