Midfield trio key to success

The problem with Bird, is a little similar to the problem with Rooney (or Huddlestone). Lack of pace.

I think we can only “afford” one slow player in the midfield. At the moment it’s Beilik, Bird is his understudy if everyone else is fit for me.

As he is filling out (becoming more of a unit), part of me thinks he could be a Stones type centre back if he worked on his arial game.
