That is not what was said at the time.For me the excuses don't wash. it might be worth looking back at just how many ties this has happened, with promises of big signings, usually announced early in the transfer window, with snippets fed out or dangled before our eyes. We all go "Wow! Imagine if that happens! We can't wait!". But after we've waited, there is an absolutely colossal nothing at the end of it all.
