Yeah the transfer fees are an interesting - and it's all kind of evolving as we are often making economy tweaks to this kind of things. 

I think the fees are reflective of an internal game environment rather than anything else - so for example - how that player rates to their peers in terms of rating, ability and hidden ability. I think then we apply some changes based on contract length and age etc. 

So, in terms of what you say, our player ratings get done by our community at soccerwiki - so as a player continue to improve their starting rating will also get voted up by the community which affects their value over time. Sometimes, you'll find a player who is probably worth more than he is shown in the game - annoying if you manage that player, but also an opportunity if you see a player in your division who you think is undervalued as he'll be worth less than his 'real' value so you can snap up a bargain which can be satisfying. Works very much like this in our sister game Worlds.
