Unless you have a very weird laptop there is no way to get it to display the output of anything but the laptop itself, no converters/cables/special software will help. Sorry.

Any particular reason you're trying to do this BTW? Unless you've a massive laptop screen surely a TV's better anyway?

My parents are borrowing my TV I used for my PS3 so I'm looking for alternatives 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> I found something called HD fury which would do the trick buts its about 60 quid so I may as well go and get a new TV with that 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> you can get built in DVD LCD Tv's for 90 quid 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' />

I know it will be a bit crap and Scart rather than HDMI but people are giving away shed loads of old CRT TVs at the minute- would be a stop gap but I have seen TV's (60") that I paid £1500 about 6 years ago being given away for nowt- as well as much smaller ones obviously. With the sales raging people are buying flat panels and ditching the old tv's- even my parents are thinking about it! Hope this helps....Have a look at freecycle or freegle or even on Ebay they are literally going for a few quid.
