Mark Robins to leave Barnsley

Skysports.com understands Mark Robins has left his role as Barnsley manager.

It is believed Robins was informed of the decision to dispense with his services at the end of the Championship season last week.

The reason behind his departure is thought to be a breakdown in his relationship with Tykes owner Patrick Cryne.

It is understood that Robins is now serving a 12-month notice period under the terms of his contract at Oakwell.

Robins took charge of Barnsley in September 2009 and he guided them to survival after taking over with the side rooted to the bottom of the Championship table.

The Tykes finished this season in 17th spot well clear of relegation trouble, but the club have decided to look for a new man to lead the club next season.
