Season over for Addison

DERBY County defender Miles Addison is set to miss the rest of the season.

The 21-year-old has made only four starts in the past five months due to a foot injury and has not featured in the last seven games.

He has a stress fracture and is currently on crutches, wearing a protective boot to keep weight off his foot.

Addison has had a number of scans and now the club have found a specialist in America who is to take a look at the problem.

"I can't see him playing again this season. We are looking at all the options at the moment," said manager Nigel Clough. "He's having scans and we are getting different opinions but with three months of the season to go, I can't see him coming back.

"It is a rare injury and there are different opinions. Was he born with it? Has it been made worse by football?

"We've found someone in America who's going to have a look at it. We're sending scans out there.

"He's definitely got a fracture now but it's how that's occurred.

"Whether it takes six months or 12 months, we're trying to find a solution where Miles knows this is the best chance to fix it.

"We don't want any temporary stuff.

"He could come back in a couple of weeks or a couple of months and it would hurt again. We don't want that.

"We are looking as far afield as we have to to get people with the experience of dealing with this but we cannot see Miles playing any time soon."

Dean Leacock (knee), Gary Teale (calf), Lee Hendrie (hamstring) and Steve Davies (hamstring) are still out.

Leacock is two or three weeks away from a return and Teale faces a similar spell out but Lee Croft should play for the Reserves away to Macclesfied Town tomorrow after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Davies has missed the last four games and has started only five times this season.

"He should be back training in a couple of weeks but all the time we are trying to build his fitness," said Clough.

"This is not a problem which has happened in the last three months or 12 months, we are looking back at his record since 2005-6 season. How many full League games has he played in that time? 17!

"This is a problem that really needs addressing and I think it will be the summer when we can do that.

"That is the time to get fit, get strong and he is going to have to be totally injury-free ready to come back on July 1 and do a good pre-season."

Get rid ! it's getting silly the amount of long term injuries we have - and to be honest we havn't missed Leacock the last few games, and if Miles has got the same injury that Barnes had he's no good to us.

Get rid of Addison?

Savage under rated?

Dickov world class?

You really ought to lay of the drugs, no good for you at your age.

miles is a whole different kettle of fish than giles, for one he actually wants to play for us

it sounds like its a real bad injury one of those one in a million ones, unlike giles who would break down with a muscle injury if the wind blew, i don think giles would of played over christmas, if he wasnt 100% which addison clearly wasnt, and the fact he performed so well at newcastle while clearly struggling with the injury. it sounds an odd type of injury and i for one hope hes fit for the start of next season
