Day
DERBY County will seek a second opinion after Miles Addison was told to rest his injured foot for a month. The 20-year-old defender will have more scans today amid fears he could need further surgery. Addison suffered a stress fracture in February and missed 15 matches in the latter part of last season. "Miles has to rest his foot for four weeks. We are seeking a second opinion and we will know more after the weekend," said manager Nigel Clough. "We had this with Paul Green where he was told exactly the same and, within a week, the pain had come back and he needed an operation. "I think we need some clarification and a definite plan of the way forward." Green had surgery last season to repair a broken metatarsal but the injury flared again early this season and he recently underwent another operation. "It is very easy for specialists to say another four weeks' rest but it is another four weeks without the player for us," said Clough. "If Miles rests for four weeks and it is still bad, we have lost four weeks, and if he needs an operation, he could already have had it done and would be a month into his rehab. "It is difficult because they (the specialists) are the experts and you are in their hands. "If players need an operation, we always think they should have one as soon as possible if that is going to fix the problem." rams71
if players had proper boots instead of these lightweight things they wear these days they wouldn't get as many foot/metatarsal injuries. these new boots are like slippers,no protection at all for the foot

vicky-27
Hhhmm there have been an awful lot of foot injures the last few years - since the boots became softer - no one had heard of metertarsol injuries till then - well not many anyway - it's got to be the boots, there is a report here about it - and why do footballers have boots 2 sizes to small  i have heard that before.
