Injury worries again

CRAIG Bryson, Zak Whitbread and Will Hughes have added to Derby County's injury worries

Bryson and Whitbread limped off in the first half of Saturday's 4-4 draw against Huddersfield Town.

Bryson has a thigh problem and Whitbread a hamstring injury.

Whitbread was making only his second start in six months after being sidelined by back and hamstring problems.

Top scorer Chris Martin has missed the last two matches due to a recurrence of a hamstring injury.

"Chrissy is doing some running in training and hopefully he will have a good week this week," said head coach Steve McClaren.

"We can't risk him and we don't want to rush him.

"We want to get in the play-offs and one more win will do that.

"To be fair, that is the only focus.

"Hopefully, we do get in the play-offs and then have a fitter squad.

"The key thing with Chrissy and George Thorne is not just getting them back, they have to be in decent shape.

"We are not in good condition at the moment. We are fighting and scrapping and injuries seem to be testing us at the moment."

Derby will spend a few days at a training camp in Spain this week ahead of the visit to face Millwall on Saturday.

Tbf this is the reason we ate scrapping to get into playoffs and not the automatics.., chronic injuries . Three players going off injured in one game plus the three Dms and Martin and bucko. Doesn't sound like any of them wil be fit for milwall game so I guess we just have to grind it out and hope for a better injury situation if we get to the playoffs.
