Jack Wilshere for England?

Fabio Capello has admitted that Jack Wilshere could make his World Cup squad if he plays regularly for Arsenal.

The 17-year-old midfielder has been talked about as an exciting prospect for the future for some time and Capello saw him in Carling Cup action last season.

The England manager believes Wilshere has progressed rapidly over the last few months after taking in his two sparkling performances in the recent Emirates Cup.

Wilshere is likely to be given more opportunities to impress in the Premier League this term and Capello intends to keep a close eye on him.

"He surprised me. Really. I saw him last year two times because he played in the Carling Cup and he has improved a lot now," said Capello.

"He plays without fear, with confidence. And the other players passed the ball always to him. This is not normal to be so young and so good."

Capello has a policy of only picking players who are performing on a regular basis for their clubs and he insists it will be the same for Wilshere.

He continued: "We have time before we have to decide if he will go to South Africa. It depends a lot on Arsene Wenger, if he will play him."

Do we never learn, how can a kid after a handful of first team appearances push for a place in the World Cup squad?, if we were short on midfielders I can understand it. This kids name will be all across the media as was Walcott's when he was called up to the squad. Why can't this country allow players to develop at club level before throwing them in at the deep end.

He probably could walk into any Premiership team on talent alone, although he doesnt have the experience of playing against players such as Gerrard, Fabregas, Torres on a weekly basis.

Cole, Lampard, Gerrard, Barry, Wright-Phillips, Lennon, Walcott, Young, Beckham, Carrick and Downing all have this experience.

To be honest it's probably all irrelevant as it's all down to how much Wenger plays him this season, now Wenger knows this I'm sure he will protect him as much as possible and limiting his first team appearences.
