Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has handed Watford striker Nathan Ellington a trial at Ewood Park.

The 28-year-old will train with the Rovers squad this week in the hope of making an impression and securing a possible loan switch to the Premier League club.

[url=http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer'>http://topics.skysports.com/Nathan+Ellington/?section=football]Ellingtonhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer has struggled at Vicarage Road since making his club-record £3.25million move from West Brom back in August 2007, scoring just four times in 38 games for the Hornets the following season.

He spent last term on loan at Championship rivals Derby with a view to a permanent deal but Rams boss [url=http://topics.skysports.com/Nigel+Clough/?section=football]Nigel Cloughhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer did not take up the option and Ellington returned to Watford this summer.

The former Bristol Rovers and Wigan marksman is said to be one of the highest earners under [url=http://topics.skysports.com/Malky+Mackay/?section=football]Malky Mackayhttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer and a loan switch to Rovers, should he impress, could suit all parties.

Tinhat on time, I thought he would of done a decent job for us had he been given a longer run in the team, when you look at the injury problems we've got now and we could have had him here on a free is abit of a cock up in my opinion.

I'm not just saying it as Hulse and Porter are out, you need 3 or 4 out and out strikers in your squad and we have 2. Commons, Davies and Varney can are not strikers that will get you 20+ goals a season.

NOooooooooooooooooooo far to lazy - would rather see one of the acadamy lads given a chance that Elllington. Commons, Davies and Varney 20 goals - i can see that - between them - well not equally - Varney maybe hit the dizzy heights of 5.

Ellington has proven he can score goals at this level the academy lads havent. If your heading towards the end of the season and you don't have much to play for stick a couple in and see how they get on, don't start the season relying on them to get the goals.

Absolutely. His Carling Cup form showed what he is capable of.

If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't have had the opportunity to play Man U that time and get the famous victory.
