(sorry if already posted)

Promotion to the Premier League would mean a £120million windfall for the club - and Steve McClaren's players are in line to split a £4.5million bonus

Action ImageDerby County’s heroes will split a staggering £4.5million bonus if they make the Premier League.

Steve McClaren’s Rams are in for a major jackpot in the play-off final with QPR on Saturday.

The pot will be carved up based on appearances - with ever-present keeper Lee Grant in for the maximum sum of around £400,000.

County put up the money at the start of the campaign and will be delighted to pay as it is only a fraction of the estimated £120 million that promotion brings.

McClaren’s tight-knit squad are not major earners and sums of around £300,000 for most of them will mean almost DOUBLE their season’s cash.

Man of the Derby players are only in the £8- to £10,000-a-week bracket, so this is a serious incentive.

The Pride Park outfit are playing for massive stakes as failure may see one or two of their better players leaving.

But the inform outfit are focusing on bringing back the big time - and counting their cash along the way.

The scheme is mainly based on appearances, with some subs and unused squad men also qualifiying for a smaller slice.

However the players who have dragged Derby so close will feel the major benefit of their efforts.
