Southampton appoint Pardew

Recommended Posts

League One outfit Southampton have named Alan Pardew as their new manager.

The 47-year-old, who left The Valley in November following an eight-game winless run, has signed a three-year deal at St Mary's.

The Saints needed a new boss after previous manager Mark Wotte was sacked earlier this month.

The south coast club, who were recently bought by Swiss businessman Markus Liebherr, will start next season with a 10-point penalty.

"We are delighted to have been able to attract Alan to St Mary's from a very strong field of candidates we identified and who expressed an interest in joining us," said Liebherr.

"Alan has a strong track record and impressed us with his vision, commitment and ambition."
