Mears - the premiership expert

Manager Owen Coylehttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer has since been planning for the 2009/10 campaign as he looks to preserve the club's top-flight status.

Part of that preparation has seen the capture of Mears from Derby County, with the full-back signing a three-year deal at Turf Moor.

A recent report drew attention to Mears' new team-mate Chris Eagles,http://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer who turned up to training in Lamborghini said to be worth £150,000.

Mears, who spent last season on loan at Marseille, said in the Daily Expresshttp://static.lingospot.com/spot/image/spacer: "We're going to be in the spotlight now and we've seen this with Chris already.

"People will want to bring us down and will make a big thing of the cars we drive. Chris was upset but I told him to expect it.

"We have to stay strong, ignore it and focus on the football."
