Anderson & Roberts Back in Training

DEFENDERS Russell Anderson and Gareth Roberts are back in training after injuries and could be available when Derby County return to Championship action against Preston North End later this month.

Centre-back Anderson has not featured since the opening match at Leeds, when he suffered a groin strain.

A hamstring problem has kept left-back Roberts out of the last five games.

"They have both started training with the squad this week. We are looking for them to do a couple more sessions and then step it up next week," said manager Nigel Clough.

"They will play in the reserves at Rotherham on Tuesday night, with a chance of being involved when Preston visit the following Saturday."

The fitness of striker Chris Porter is being monitored daily. The striker's hip problem has kept him out since he appeared as a substitute in the defeat at Coventry City on August 21.

"Chris had a couple of sessions last week and was able to be on the bench at Swansea but could only have done probably 15 or 20 minutes if needed," said Clough.

"He is seeing another specialist again this week in the hope of easing some of the discomfort he is feeling."

Bonus having Anderson back. Not sure I would put Roberts straight back in, Moxey has looked pretty decent.
