Russell Anderson's hamstring injury will keep him out of Sunday's final game of the season against Cardiff City.

The defender sustained the injury in the early stages of the second half of last weekend's defeat at Bristol City.

The strain is nothing serious but he won't be available in time for visit of Cardiff.

Manager Nigel Clough said: "Russell won't be fit in time for Sunday so we will be down to the bare bones at the back."

Paul Connolly returned from his loan spell at Sheffield United last week and could be in contention to start in Anderson's place.

With Jake Buxton and Dean Leacock also out injured Dean Moxey could also come into the side with Jay McEveley moving to the heart of the defence.

Paul Green picked up an injury in the warm-up at Ashton Gate while Gilles Sunu and Chris Porter picked up injuries during the game.

Green and Porter are expected to be fit to face Cardiff and Sunu is still having his injury assessed.
