ladyram
Tesco's. The worst thing to happen to the high street. But i've helped it, they're so convenient as you can get everything from there, clothes and all. and they're very clever with the whole clubcard scheme because it's handy at christmas. So now they've got customers over a barrell. Poundland is popular, course it is. I get my kitchen stuff from there, foil and stuff, aswell as envelopes. (they're far more expensive in the post office) and stationary for the kids. I don't think the High Street is ever going to recover though snd it's only a matter of time before one of the big dept stores goes.In derby i wouldn't be surprised if it's BHS, because it isn't what it used to be anymore. RamNut
The little herbert who operated the till in Clintons Cards on Cornmarket didnt put every sale thro the till and pocketed the cash. That might not have helped.
observer
There will always be a high street, its just whilst there is doom and gloom people always try to find the best price as soon as there is a bit of hope in the economy it will be an adrenaline shot for the high street, People like to to shop with there hands, but you have to offer something extra, primark doesnt have a website for a reason, because they want you in that store buying more tat THe Company that bought hmv own hmv in canada and have apparently been offered very good credit terms by all of the distributors. which is why they are doing the gift cards as they want to keep customers happy. They need to get a bit more specialist drop the prices a bit, improve the loyalty scheme and get more events going on at every store. I think as time goes on we will start to see more of the mid market brands going under or getting bought by Phillip green!!!

Martyn
Soon High Streets will just be Starbucks, Poundland, Greggs, Starbucks, Poundland, Greggs. Although I think clothes shops have a few years left because you can't download clothes. Welcome to Swadlincote. eddie
What kind of stores you need there ? I could move there and start my own business. I could become a butcher if you have a proper roadkill there. Horses perhaps ?
