England Ram Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Today was the first time since last years Barnsley game that I have has opportunity to get to the ground and besides a great first half and dire second half what got my attention for all the wrong reasons was the horrendous music being played almost constantly! It killed the atmosphere before the second half and playing it after we score is ridiculous!! Please tell me someone has raised this with the club and it can be stopped? I felt like I was at a bad pop concert rather than a football match for some of it:-(
DCFCfranco Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Any particular piece of music you didnt like?
PrivateDerby Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 He said ALL franco! Not even Steve Bloomer... I think the same, it gets on my wick when I go and it needs getting rid of.
Alph Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Ah, another brother of hate for goal music. I hate it so much I rather we don't score.
DCFCfranco Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Music is just there to try and build an atmosphere and get the fans pumped doesn't really work but every ground does it so you'll have to live with it.
GboroRam Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 Why does everyone hate music? For me, because it feels so artificial. I'll make special dispensation to the Doncaster away cup game a couple of seasons ago, where "ring of fire" got stuck as the match kicked off. Everone enjoyed singing along: BA DA DAA DA DA DAAA DAAA DAAAA!!
ReluctantRam Posted August 18, 2012 Posted August 18, 2012 I loved it. Maybe if we all sang, we wouldn't need music...
Woodypecker Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Astonishing pre-game volume on the PA system too - impossible to have a conversation, even with the person right next to you. I speak as a rock fan used to gigs and festivals, and love loud music of all sorts - Gord knows what more delicate types think but I don't know anyone near me in the E Stand who was happy with the racket. It was OTT and probably exceeds permissible levels. If it carries on, I will take a sound meter to the games. Fans generated their own fantastic atmosphre at the Olympic venues - by themselves - yes, with some embellishment from the PA or music sound-bites at key moments but not continuously. I know PPS isn't exactly a cauldron unless we are beating F*rest or L**ds but FFS, turn it down a bit Derby and let the fans be heard (and hear themselves)
mozza Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 it's an 'americanism'..talking of which..where is he ??
Belper Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Very loud and in my opinion not as good playlist as last season, it fustrated me that in the second half they didn't play Steve Bloomers watching
Asanovic Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Remember, together, we are Derby. COME ON YOOOOOU RAMS!!!
blackNwhites Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I honestly believe they've discovered what the fans hate the most and dumb them down using that kind of music, you're not supposed to enjoy yourself at PP.
alexxxxx Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 They had a bit of a delay before the goal music yesterday though. I agree the pa was a little bit loud but he was quite clear.
England Ram Posted August 19, 2012 Author Posted August 19, 2012 Welcome to the jungle for half time! Killed any semblance of atmosphere left. Steve Bloomers if fine, it's our song and been a tradition for many seasons now. Music After scoring a goal, what!! Are we that bad that we need an orchestrated song:-( Shambolic!!
uttoxram75 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Goal music is cretinous and has led to the dumbing down of this country almost as much as privatisation of our public services and Rupert Murdoch.
ReluctantRam Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Wow. Bobble hats and rattles all round, then. If you want atmosphere, sing. Weds sang and bounced all game long. We were embarrassing by comparison.
RamNut Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 Unless they play the music i don't realise that we've scored.
uttoxram75 Posted August 19, 2012 Posted August 19, 2012 I thought someone from Sheffield had died when they had their 20 minute silence.
