StaffsRam
Yeah we're heading into that part of the year again - X-Factor and Strictly. Whoopy-fooking-doo. That'll be me not seeing any telly on Saturday and Sunday nights from now until the new year then! Cisse
Close final that, a lot closer than many predicted. Especially given Spain's indifferent form throughout the tournament. Just the Women's Modern Pentathlon to go now. Sam Murray in with a shout of a medal. Be nice to make it gold, and a nice round 30! USA carried Spain from the start. When they were down 12-7 they turned it up a notch and went 18-4 in a few minutes. Several times they had a guy free under the basket and they returned the ball behind the three point line. I know they got some criticism for winning with over 80 points in the group stage but I think they should have played the final to the best of their abilities. StaffsRam
Yeah this is true, the US team certainly played within themselves.
Cisse
I don't think it is very respectful towards your opponent when you have the chance to score and you start showboating. They could have kept the point spread down by slowing down the game. Or they could have just gone for the full tilt and hammered Spain. This way the game was a bit lame. StaffsRam
Well Basketball as an Olympic sport has a lot of detractors who argue that it shouldn't be in the games as it's pretty much a guaranteed gold medal for the US. Just wonder if that played any part - walloping the second best side in the world by 80 points would probably give their detractors a lot of ammunition to use.
