Tax Dodging

Day

Recommended Posts

Today's Mirror running a two page "investigation" into multi-millionaire Michael Hintze. He runs a Hedge Fund company called COS and last year earnt £125m in the UK. He paid £77k corporation tax. It should have been more like £30m.

Its all done through Jersey and the Cayman Islands.

Still, it leaves him enough to donate £1.2m to the Tory party.

I presume Cameron thinks this as "morally wrong" as he does Jimmy Carr's tax dodging.?

I think what Cameron means is it's morally wrong of people like entertainers and sports people (that have usually come from a working class background) to take on the kind of advice that get's you to pay less tax but if you went to Harrow or Eton it's perfectly alright.

If Carr did anything illegal, nick him, if he didn't, shut the flip up or we could look at other kinds of immorality...like pensioners literally having to choose between heating their homes or eating decent food in the winter while energy companies boast record profits year on year, what do you think of that Mr Cameron ?

this is a joke it should all be equal!

If I work harder than my next door neighbour I should have the benefit from that!

I work well over 100hrs a week I should earn more than anybody else that does 39hrs!

Although I do think it should be fair and they need to stop all these companies dodgy deals, vodafone was a joke considering they were prepared to pay 4x the amount!!

Fully agree with all of your views - would just add, bloody hell slow down a bit Observer. Unless it's your own firm of course.

I worked 90 hours plus a week for a corporate for two years and it ended up nearly killing me at 39.

Your bosses and their bosses don't really remember how hard you worked and you won't be worrying about paying too much tax if you keep doing 7 days at 15 hours a day.

Work/Life balance, it's no good earning all that money if you're not with your wife and kids to see the benefits. Another reason why I think 33% is about the max..

I'd do it if someone said you can pay the tax you are paying or you can pay 1% & its all above board and legal plus I don't know why cameron is getting involved thats why his family was rich & he went to Eton because of tax dodges
