Yahoo..... bells heard anyone ?

I heard on the radio last night driving home, that Yahoo (our very own Jeff Mallett) was to 'downsize' again, that succesive CEO's had chosen to use the cost/staff cutting strategy to try to keep in a profitable position, rather than try to invest and try to compete with 'the new boys on the block' ?

Some analyst's seem to think that Yahoo are letting the opposition drive them down, as they are still a 'big hitter' potentially, but rather than invest and try to regain their former status, which with their power base, they believe is possible, they have chosen to downsize again, leaving them in what may be a difficult position to ever grow again, as analysts worry that image is everything, and they may not be able to attract quality staff, advertising and investment ........

Ring any bells ?

It did for me 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wacko' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

P.S. Anyone who knows me knows im a DCFC fan for life, so im not wrist slashing, just 'intruiged'.......

Didn't they merge with Bing to compete with Google? I used to do some advertising on Bing and was under the illusion that I'd also appear on Yahoo, needless to say it was total waste of money and I was better placed to just pour it into Google. I suppose the cat has had its cream and they just intend to milk it until the final nail hits the coffin, does sound like Derby actually doesn't it?

Yeah because putting millions into a business and taking nothing out to date sounds really like the owners are milking the club.

.

Continuing on the milk analogy, I guess we are comparing chalk and cheese here in fairness. I think the similarity reaches so far as to realise both can't compete financially on a level playing field with competition for whatever mismated or comparable reasoning you care to put to it. They're clearly here to extract money from the club, if they thought the cause was lost they'd invariably sell up and take the hit, they obviously believe that those millions will be paid back plus interest upon promotion. How likely that is, I don't know and I daresay either do they, this is football afterall.
