My TV is broken....

My TV is broken. I'm 99.9% sure it's the capacitors. I've ordered some from eBay. They probably won't arrive until Tuesday. My small bedroom TV cannot be wall mounted with the current setup downstairs. I don't want to do much with the setup downstairs as it might be dangerous for the nippers.

So I'm pretty bored.....

How did people cope without TV? I can't even say I 'watch' much TV, it's just on in the background for ambience most of the time. It feels almost like someone in the family has died.

Pretty sure it's the capacitors?

It's a known issue with the telly, I've had three changed already to better ones. There are two 1000uF 25V one's that look slightly bulged. I'll test them at work when they're removed. I've ordered a couple of 1000uF 35V's, so fingers crossed.

Symptoms: It's trying to whirr up, but nothing is happening (apart from a blinking power led).

Boredom Update:

The wife downloaded Monopoly for 69p on the iPad, so we had an angry game where she rolled me into income tax and then bought the railroad for me whilst I was on the phone, using the last of my money, just in time for me to land on her property with 3 houses, so I owed the bitch £550 and that completely ruined my game a fun game of that which killed an hour. Whilst watching DVD's on the laptop (Kids are napping).

Looking for something else to do on the iPad now.

I'm an Avionic Technician in the RAF, almost never go to component level (certainly not in my current job), my last job (within the RAF) was in a electronic bay, even then we only changed PCB's. My mate who's done a PCB component course changed the last capacitors, I probably could do it, but it made more sense to let him do it.

Have loads of respect for our Armed Forces lads n lasses - here's a little something to alleviate your boredom, my pops in law showed me this, who's retired RAF. Enjoy! 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':D' />
