To be fair Clough usually does admit if he is interested, by saing 'he is one we've looked at' unless the competition is high, which you would assume so, giving that Southampton are after him, you'd imagine 4 or 5 others are aswell. Maybe he's playing his cards close to his chest.

We were found out slightly last summer by making our targets too public.

Also saying we are interested in a kid released by Everton may not do the confidence of our current strikers too much good

Could make them train harder and improve- depends what they are made of. Every transfer window one manager says they are interested in a player whilst their current club denies that there has been any interest. Nothing comes of it and I have often thought that it was all engineered to put the wind up the players that are already there.
