English Clubs in Europe

Don't know if anyone knew this but Italy have been replaced by Germany in the co-efficient rankings meaning that 4 clubs from Germany will now enter the CL and only 3 from Italy.. More money going into the German league could make it even stronger..

Italy is sadly on the decline with lots of top clubs like Roma, Lazio, Napoli, Udinese, Fiorentina etc. looking like missing out on the CL and the supposed better players.. It looks like Juventus are back, AC Milan and Inter Milan will always be massive but for the others it's going to be difficult.

How long will it be before England try and push for a 5th CL place?

As for the rcord BnW I fully agreee with your views regarding the German league.. Also the gap between the top 2 in Spain and the rest.. Time for a Superleage perhaps?

Some years ago the Italian League sold their soul for the big money TV rights. They went from one of the most competitive leagues to just 2 or 3 top clubs.

Scotland did the same although Celtic and Rangers were bigger for political/religious reasons anyway.

Spain joined the club and Barca and Real rule, although other spanish clubs play good football they can't compete with the signing on fees and wages of those two.

England has supped from the same poisoned chalice and now has 2 or 3 teams with a chance of winning the league.

Germany did it yonks ago but has come out of it and now has a more socialist football set up then any other euro league.

The countries that first got dragged into the greed machine are now beginning to realise that without passionate supporters, live football is not worth watching.

Unfortunately, the English powers-that-be won't realise this for another year or two because of the short term profit god they worship.

The point I was trying to make has now been lost due to a particularly decent Red from the region of Puglia in southern Italy. Not sure about a super league you know, what kind of impact would that have on national football leagues? International football would suffer as well, as it has been for a while.

All that money being pumped into the European Super League, hardly any into the so called 'lower' ranking national football leagues. Would be a massive overhaul.

Just take a leaf out of Germany. Must be awesome to be a fan or football player over there at the moment. It's how it used to be in the ode days. They even have safe standing for the lower earners, absolute packed out stadiums.

We've always got the hooligan aspect casting a depressing shadow over us though, would take some organising. Football can take care of itself, I'm sure all this money involved is absolutely pointless. Billionaire cock swinging. Footballers from the English league best days must think it's an absolute joke.

Saying all that, a European super league could be an absolute disaster with the supporter aspect. Building up dangerous rivalries with foreigners, never been great has it.

Also, guess I just don't like the idea of all the best players in the world playing for the same teams. Not necessarily the best way to go, probably not the best spectator sport.

Ya want it to be a fascinating spectator sport, so you want it competitive, otherwise you lose the fans and without them it's nothing. No money in it, now't.

I watched the Hertha Berlin v Bayern Munich game last night, and you had supporters standing on the terraces drinking lager out of bottles.

You can't even take a coke bottle into our grounds without them taking the top off for us. (elf & safety)

Bayern absolutely slaughtered Hertha and won 6-0.

Bananas.

It's not "elf & safety", it's risk management. Because there's always someone out to sue at the drop of a hat, they end up being really risk averse, avoiding anything that could be construed as liability. It's more about national sue culture than "political correctness gone mad".
