Unthinkable nowadays

Bad enough having Mick Brolly and Paul Emson on opposite wings, but watching the crowd scenes at the end of this game is incredible

Imagine what would be made of this if it happened at PPS today.

Probably been seen lots of times before, but definately worth another look (and a beauty from ooooh Bobby Bobby).

Well, we saved Fulham the bother of inflicting their boring, horrible, no history, no fans, ***** ground of a club on a higher division. Still can't believe that they are in the prem. I think even Clough Snr. would have shied away from that pitch invasion!

This is awesome. Also watched this seasons victory at Forest after it...quality.

Was there any fall out? Where we fined etc.

Football has clearly come on in many ways since then, ignoring the obvious crowd troubles, how boring was it seeing a keeper pass it to the defender to get it back and pick it up again.

Edit: Read this on wiki: "[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Derby_County_F.C.]Derby v [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fulham_F.C.]Fulham (1983) [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_League]Football League. This match was controversially never concluded after Derby fans invaded the pitch. Fulham required a win to be promoted back into the top flight of English football but despite their protests the match was never replayed and the result, a 1-0 defeat, stood."

Picked this up from a Fulham forum, posted September this year:

"Awful day.

There was a thread about this a few weeks ago, I recounted how it was the only time in my life I wrote a letter of complaint.

I wrote to the then FA chairman, Graham Kelly, asking on what grounds they had decided that the match should not be replayed given there had never been a game before that which had been abandoned and never replayed.

His response was that the conditions going in to the match could not be recreated. Derby were in a relegation scrap and depending on how results went could be relegated. And we were of course looking for promotion to Division 1.

As it happens, the way things went, Derby would have stayed up win, lose or draw. So the FA basically said it was unfair to replay a match when Derby had nothing to play for, and we did.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

That, and the spectacle of our players been kicked off the pitch, and the crowd trouble throughout the game, still makes my blood boil.

Never forgiven Derby for that, which is why they are my least favourite club (even worse than that other lot in Fulham)."

If you pause it bang on 8 minutes to the left of Cherrys goal there is an urchin in a grey jacket and bad jeans... word has it that he grew up to be a good looking charmer!

I remember being shocked that the gates were being allowed to be opened by lads going around the touchline. It was a typical end of season - avoiding relegation - celebration that had a slightly sour taste.

The atmosphere and noise was amazing back at the old BG, and I can not help but compare the speed of the pitch invasion to the last game last season when we somberly moped on to the pitch!

Another thing, didn't Cherry get player of the year that season? What a difference a year makes when we had 'Cherry's game' on Black Wednesday.

Ah!... Memories.

i meant he was in goal for them!

Quite how he would sign for the club who scored against him straight from a corner is beyond me.

it would have been either steele or wallington for derby.

shilton arrived in the summer after we were promoted along with mark wright
