Nottingham Forest fans who wrecked a train carriage and attacked police will be banned from future games, the club's safety officer has said.

Alan Bexon vowed to stop supporters who wreaked havoc before the FA Cup clash with Derby County from attending matches.

Two British Transport Police officers were hurt and two attacked after confronting fans over damage to the Cross Country Nottingham to Birmingham train last Friday. Eleven fans were arrested.

Mr Bexon said: "Three Forest fans arrested at the game were on football banning orders. We are investigating how they got their tickets and will be taking action against them."

Meanwhile, British Transport Police have been accused of being heavy-handed.

Forest fan Richard Burgess, 55, from Bestwood Village, was on the train with his wife Jo, also 55. He said: "Officers stormed in mob handed and completely lost the plot. They deliberately held up the fans causing them to miss the start of the game."

Mr Bexon encouraged fans to phone police about the incident at Long Eaton station on 0800 405050 or 0115 957 6664.
