David
The BBC has "cancelled" Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer's surreal panel show Shooting Stars. The show began life as a 1993 Christmas special and then ran for five series until 1997, with comedian Mark Lamarr as one of the team captains - a position later filled by novelist Will Self. Other regulars included "big baby" scorer George Dawes, played by Matt Lucas, and team captain "Ulrika-ka-ka-ka-ka" Jonsson. The show was brought back for another run in 2009. Mortimer tweeted the news today, telling fans: "BBC have just cancelled shooting stars". A BBC spokeswoman said: "In future there will be less space on BBC Two for comedy/entertainment panel shows so sadly Shooting Stars won't be returning. We'd like to thank Vic and Bob for everything they've brought to the channel over the years." http://www.mirror.co.uk/celebs/tv/2011/11/15/bbc-cancels-vic-reeves-and-bob-mortimer-s-shooting-stars-115875-23564295/#ixzz1doRq9JPe

Alex W
Never saw what was so special about it, it seemed alright. Gavin and Stacey wasn't nearly as good as it was hyped up to be either, not to me anyway. Bah humbug.
sage
Crazy decision. Shooting Stars has been consistantly one of the funniest shows on TV for years. People of all ages can watch and enjoy it. No doubt some 14-23 focus group moaned that Cheryl Cole or Kerry Katona haven't been on it, so it's axed.
sage
{content}p.s. Gavin and Stacey is ok, IMO, no more no less. Certainly over-hyped. At least James Corden isn't as sickenly self indulgent and self gratifying as he is on A League of Their Own. [/indent]
Alex W
I don't see why they get rid of that yet keep Rhod Gilbert's show though, that's not a patch on this and i'm not a huge fan of Shooting Stars anyway. It was different atleast, surely they want to keep variety? Or not, as it would seem.
