Ozzie End or Popside?

Talking of cheap rates.

Standing tickets in the late 80s at most away grounds, were generally £3.50-£4.50 in price usually 4 quid most places.

The 4 quid ticket at arsenal was 2 pounds for juniors the year i went. (most away grounds didnt have a juniors rate, since it was only adults who would dare go away and stand on those packed away terraces)

So I saw derby topple the champions elect 2-1 in 1988 for an almighty 2 pounds!

I was 13 i think.

Makes me sad too MrsRam - happy days all of them

I started off at about 6 years old in the Ozzie End upper - when you could stand in the first tier behind the goal. My brother used to take me. Gordon Hughes, Reg Matthews and the rest

Sat above the tunnel once with my dad - hated it. Too many moaners above 65 years old; sat in the Ley Stand when the terraces were closed for a few games - can't remember why. Was it the Fulham pitch invasion or something like that?

But all my proper watching days were on the Popside, even when the seats went in. Nothing gets close today though I sit in the East stand because the angle of viewing just feels right

When the seats went in the Popside it was all over then as far as the craic/atmosphere/camaradie goes. The being able to move round and mingle made it for me.

Now, if you're stuck next to an obnoxious **** with hateful ill informed opinions then its a right ballache to move to the east stand... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

seats on the popside was a big no-no for me

i pity the youngsters who have only experienced the watered-down version of football, who have never felt the electric atmosphere of a night match at the BBG,the swaying movement of the popside crowd when Derby were putting teams to the sword and of course after Derby scored ending up 10 feet away from where you were standing before the goal.

good times,good times

never happened... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ph34r' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> they got in, but didn't stay long...... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

I was there that day Chelsea fans were supposed to be banned ,at the time I was calming down a bit and took a friends 12 year old lad . When the fight broke out I took the lad down the front out of the way ,I looked up and there was a row of coppers at back watching .I walked back up the terracing [through the punch up] and spoke to the sargeant on the end ,told him I had a young lad with me and to sort it out he said " son if you want to sort it out borrow my helmet " and took it off and handed it to me.

After a brief verbal exchange him and the others broke it up ,I was that annoyed I rang Chris Ashley on radio Trent [i live in Notts] to complain on his football show phone in .Happy days We are the popside Derby.
