Schteve
Quite right, but we always knew the Derby half as the Popside and the away side as the Columbo. The Columbo Street popular terrace wasn't always for away fans. Well there was no segregation at one time. Derby and Juventus fans stood side by side for the European Cup semi-final. haywood8
Come on then you old 'uns, time to nail your colours to the mast, were you Popsiders or Ozzie Enders? I was an Ozzie Ender, although I had a few spells in the Popside and Columbo End, depending who I was hanging out with, but I consider myself an Ozzie Ender at heart. Ozzie Enders Ozzie Enders la la la la la. Popsider, pay on the door nice & early, get a good vantage point, stand next to the same people every week, hugging them, going crazy when we scored, talking all through the match, legs knackered by the end, saying see u at the end & not even knowing there name...because it didnt matter,we were Derby, super Derby,we are Derby,Super Rams.. MAGIC DAYS!
MrsRam
This thread makes me quite sad. Don't get me wrong, I understand the why's and wherefore's and we're not the only club to have moved into a flatpack, no atmosphere, seated stadium and whether we like it or not, health and safety plays a big part in our lives, but we haven't even got decent stand names. Pop side, Ozzie End, even bloody C stand (I note nobodys owned up to being a Leys Stander. hehe)......what have we got now - North Stand, South Stand, East Stand, West Stand. South East Corner if you want to sing a bit. Jeeze, there's no wonder we don't feel together. We've got no identity, we're all individual when at the BBG you all felt as one. Like Haywood says above, knowing people for that couple of hours, all there for the same reason, having a laugh and a moan together. We've lost the camaradarie, the unity. Even though it sometimes got a bit 'busy' in the Popside, you somehow felt more free. I think the nearest you get to it now is going to away matches. I realise life changes and it's the whole of football, not just us but it's something that's gone forever and it's quite sad to think of it. Or am I just remembering it differently, (old people do that sometimes.)

uttoxram75
I can remember being packed in the Popside with stewards and police on the pitch gesturing for everyone to move over a bit to squeeze a few more in! After a surge you could spend 10 minutes trying to find your mates again.

Stive Pesley
Standing on the Popside was always the best – pretty sure we used to stand in the Colombo terrace too at one point and the away fans were behind the Ossie End goal? What was the deal with the Popside pen? I just remember I wasn’t allowed in – was it ST holders only?
curb
Standing on the Popside was always the best – pretty sure we used to stand in the Colombo terrace too at one point and the away fans were behind the Ossie End goal? What was the deal with the Popside pen? I just remember I wasn’t allowed in – was it ST holders only? They changed it round after the Leeds game when they ripped the seats out in the Ozzie end and threw them at us below, you had to give the away fans a number of seats and the only real option was to put the away fans in the Ozzie End, one of the first games I remember us doing that was the Cup quarter final V Plymouth when Cherry let in a goal from a corner. Incidently they changed it round after the Leeds game, the next game was Chelsea who tried to copy the Leeds fans after watching them on TV, only trouble was the Chelsea fans were in the terrace below so they ended up hitting their own fans, not very bright them cock-er-nees. They only allowed ST holders in the middle pen, to give them the best view supposedly and it was a bit of a buffer between the Derby and away fans. They put up a double fence between the Ozzie End and the Columbo for the same reason, and also to allow the Police to get down to the side of the pitch easily. The sad thing today is, I'm not sure what my lad will remember about going to PPS when he gets older, every game is pretty much the same, sanitised crowds, **** football, no real heroes to worship. Yeah it was just for season ticket holders, always quite empty and a great laugh in there, we stood in there for a season or two and ended up knowing everyone in there. The C Stand was always the best, a real good group of boys in there, some happy happy days. Unfortunately, never to be repeated.
sideshowbob
Ozzie end for me. Had some great years there. Occasional excursion into the away end!! What about the banter between the Ozzie and Popside? Great days. Popside Popside give us a song! Chelsea took the Popside, Chelsea took the Popside, la la la la, la la la la. In fact surely there are some songs from back then that could be rejuvenated?

Pearl Ram
Didnt the last line go But I've heard of the Derby Agro! Followed by chants of Derby Agro, Derby Agro, Hello, Hello? To the best of my knowledge 'But I've Heard Of The Popside Derby' was always the last line. I also remember one advising visiting fans the perils of walking down Shaftsbury Street and what could happen to their heads should they do so, if my memory serves, it ended with something like 'be off with you, you Forest scoundrels we are the Cloughie boys.....or words to that effect.
