As a 10 year old in 1970 it was a place of wonder, You can't describe the heartbeat of that stadium, the emotion, the sheer magnificence of watching the best team in England in such a tremendous theatre. You can stick your showbiz, big name clubs, your armchair glory hunters, Derby at the Baseball Ground, thrashing so called "bigger" clubs was living the dream. Its the reason why people of my generation have no fear or respect of Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, etc, etc, because, for at least 5 years, we were better than all of them. Derby had a population of less than 200,000 back then....yet we dominated English football over cities like Leeds (600,000), Nottingham, (500,000), Manchester, London, ......even Leicester and Stoke-on-Trent had far larger populations than Derby.
