ladyram
Apparantly Winchester University is the first in the UK to have a study module devoted entirely to zombies, according to the BBC News website. I thought this was a wind up, but bizzarly, it's not. This comes after the famous mass zombie fests at Brighton and the one held annually in Manchester, (which might I say if you're not expecting it, a few hundred "zombies" coming towards you in full get up who are after munching on your grey matter is a tad scary). Now all things occult fascinate me, aspects of any afterlife especially - but why would someone study it at Uni? What would it actually achieve? Can someone explain to me why? I mean, is there a career to be had here? I don't get it. On a side note, looking forward to Brad Pitt's new zombie film anyways. ladyram
how can you study something that has no physical existence? That's just my point YR. Zombies don't exist. Although, some of course would argue that anything paranormal does not exist but there's plenty of studies in that area. Has any of you lovely campers seen a ghost? I have. I personally don't believe ghosts exist or anything paranormal, i believe we see what our minds tell us to see essentially. I have lost quite a few relatives, and my dad claims to have seen his brother but i just think he was mourning and he thought he did. ladyram
It must be tough for you YR - we can only afford to have Dav at Nottingham Uni because we thankfully have some savings. Look on the plus side though chuck, at least you don't have any dependants, or a mortgage and household bills to worry about. 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> You could always have a look round to see if there's any part time jobs going. Mind you, saying that, with the workload Dav's got, he wouldn't have time to get a job yet. He's at Uni now in fact, trying to fit more study time in. Ps, ghosts are there 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':P' /> Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7797-i-know-its-almost-halloween-but/#findComment-215667 Share on other sites

It just isn't enough, after accommodation i will have no more than a £1,000 for 36 weeks living. In the second year i will most likely have to live out and then i will be short of up to £50 a week. I am looking at going to london simply because financially i will receive more, i can't receive any bursaries, grants or anything like that. I am studying for A levels and have no time for a job realistically as i don't get home until 5.30 and i do homework most nights, at university i am going to try and get a job indeed i will need one. P.s, I really don't think there is 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' /> Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7797-i-know-its-almost-halloween-but/#findComment-215668 Share on other sites
ladyram
Finances (or rather the lack of them) have the ability to reduce any bugger to tears YR. I've been skint in my own life too many times... But, keep your chin up. I've never been to uni, I never got the chance, but if I could give you some tips - House share if you can, preferably at a gaff where the bills are included. Shop cheap. No shame in grabbing the bargains at Aldi. And over the early years in my life, I learnt to make a good meal from cheap stuff, so get cooking. Give us a shout if you need any help btw. Look into a railcard. Ask rellies for cash at Christmas, it you get enough, it could pay for one. If you get more, bank it to get interest. It may not be much, but it'll help. De-rubbish all your stuff and flog it. Advertise at uni, ebay, admag (which is free), this could all help swell the coffers. Ask rellies if they have any unwanted furniture you could nab, to put in your new place. I'm sure there are plenty more ways to save, when I think of them, I'll let you know 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' /> It might be worth checking out Moneysavingexpert.com - run by the brilliant Martin Lewis. ladyram
Speaking from a parent point of view YR - let your parents help if they can. They will feel far more comfortable if they know you're financially sound. You'll get the chance to spoil them a bit later, I'm sure they'd enjoy that. Of course, be careful with it by all means. At times, it's better to accept help than to put yourself under more pressure. Money worries can dominate your thinking to the point where you can't concerntrate on other stuff. As for ghosts, is it a case then where I can't trust my own eyes? Not sure about that one? Leeds Ram
Is Philosiphy a physical existence? Philosophy has a physical existence yes, it tries to answer many questions of life. We discuss morality, political philosophy and meta ethics. We talk about philosophers such as Descartes, Hume, Plato, Aristotle, Mill and others, this has a physical existence where as in the zombie course you are learning about something which has no existence.
