I put about 1/2 litre of petrol in my diesel the other week by mistake - its my first ever diesel car but I've had it 6 months now!

Put about 40 litres of diesel in after that and it's made no difference, still runs fine.

I don't think its as bad putting petrol in a diesel - providing you can dilute it sufficiently with the right stuff.

If you've added less than 5 litres of petrol – Top up with diesel and run normally unless the manufacturer has advised otherwise

Yep that was it ramnut, was a big surprise especially after a couple of the quotes from some rather greedy garages, even offering to to tow it as well for an extra £100...... cnuts... 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/angry' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> topped it up with £90 of diesel and job was a good un 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Dad ended up filling the whole tank up with petrol, took a while but he syphoned it off after creating a vacume, then when there was not much left just topped it up with diesel 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Worked a treat

What you need:

A plastic tube(flexible if you know what i mean)

A bucket

Not to be scared of getting a bit of petrol if your mouth!(it may happen but it's worth it!)

=Total spend =£0 you should have that stuff 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

My mate did it to his fiesta a while ago- he put 20 quids worth in and was too much to dilute by filling up with diesel. Couldn't siphon it as it is a modern car with very narrow fuel lines and baffles. I crawled underneath his car, took the fuel pipe off his tank and siphoned it out with a bit of hose, no problems. Garage had quoted him 150 quid!
