Davis keen on long-term Eagles stay

Derby defender Claude Davis has set his sights on earning a permanent move to Crystal Palace after joining the Eagles on loan.

The 29-year-old was reunited with manager Neil Warnock, whom he played under at Sheffield United, when he arrived at Selhurst Park on an initial month-long deal on Monday.

Davis has been deemed surplus to requirements at Derby since Nigel Clough became manager at Pride Park at the start of 2009, having not played since the Rams' 2-0 home defeat by Ipswich on November 22.

He told the Croydon Advertiser: "I am excited to be able to play some football at such a massive club. It is a great opportunity for me.

"Hopefully, if I can play well enough, I can earn a permanent contract at the club. That is something that I would be very open to, so who knows."

Good news then, hopefully he can stay fit and impress Warnock enough to sign him, doubt we'd get anywhere near the £3m we paid for him.
