Bris Vegas
Out of the following home games how many points would you expect us to get? Bristol City Hull City Coventry City Ipswich Town Reading Cardiff City Doncaster Rovers Burnley Millwall Barnsley Nottm Forest Leicester City It was abit of a rhetorical question.. As last season these are the teams that we failed to beat at home that are still here, in fact from this lot we picked up a grand total of 3 points.. We've already equaled that this season. (step in the right direction) I won't mention the fact we also failed to beat QPR, Norwich and Sheff Utd at PP.. You wouldn't think that we failed to win 15 home matches last season.. A staggering statistic. Amazing given the fact that NC broke the record for the 6 consecutive home wins in arguably (other than the PL season) our worst season yet at PP. If we are to finish midtable/top-half this season we need to improve our home form.. We need to win at least half our games infront of our own fans Anyone feeling confident about our home games? RIMBAUD
total rubbish obviously loves losing. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7555-home-form/#findComment-206691 Share on other sites
davenportram
Not worried at the moment, a bad half in the cup and a match where 2 mistakes got punished isn't enough to worry about yet. I know Burnley had loads of other chances, but so did we. That's one of those close games where fine lines determine the result. GeneralRam
Everything about the club is different this season. The shift in personnel, the optimism and we are getting even less "eerrr"'s from Clough. I think it is impossible to compare last season to this one. Alph
I didn't realise we dropped so many points at home last season. And i was there!! 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' /> I think the way we've been playing is much more suited to playing away. How we're playing counter football. Responding to threats before making moves of our own. At home i'm a bit less confident atm. I hope with Cywka coming in and perhaps Ward getting a boost we might not let teams settle before we try to play. Away, the exception Watford, the performances have been exactly what i'd want. Tight, counter football. Like Nigel says, sometimes it wont be good enough, but so far there can be little complaint. We had chances to take the lead v Coventry. Feel much more confident away for the first time in...... flippin heck, we've been rubbish away for like 4/5 years!?? No wonder we don't get a good away following! sage
From those 12 games, i would expect 7 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses, so 24 points form 12 games. That would equate to 46 home points. Probably edge of play off form. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7555-home-form/#findComment-206761 Share on other sites
smiffy
Could depend on how teams view us this season, and how they approach the games. Us being in a good position could make some of them adopt a more conservative approach, thus giving us more of the ball, which will I would say , with the way we are playing, ( more attacking) , will make things easier than last season, when most teams came to have a go. You just did mention the fact though 'http://www.dcfcfans.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> Seems as we fininshed near the bottom, its not that staggering really, and why worry about so far in the future, lets bask in the fact we are currently sitting so high in the league, yes it may not continue but why keep looking for problems that are not there yet, worry about it when and if it happens. Although another CM and CF would help Mr TG. uttoxram75
If ever the old maxim "take one game at a time" was true, its in this division. While West Ham and Lessta should, with the squads' and money they have, eventually pull away from the rest, there is no guarantee whatsoever. I tipped Middlesbrough to win the league in the summer and seen nowt yet to make me change my mind although that may have been prior to Lessta's spending power and West Ham signing Nolan became apparent. If the team spirit and belief keep developing, a couple of new loans - and/or signings in January, along with Barker, Tyson, Green, Addison being available to freshen it up as the season progresses, then it could be a case of the other teams worrying about playing us rather than the other way round. Bris Vegas
Quite a few strange comments/replies posted here.. How Rambaud came to the conclusion that I love losing is ridiclous.. It wasn't meant as a prediction, I didn't honestly expect people to write down a figure looking at games that will come around in March/April time.. It was more to the point that last season we failed to win many games at home, especially against average/poor teams as Cumbrian mentions. It was merely a question of how confident people are feeling going into home games this season? Especially off the back of last season and the start of this season (which has been relatively good at home as we've found the net in all 3 games). Do people expect us to play a similar way to which we afre playing away from home? Will we see more creative players at home? Would you like to see more creative players at home (ie. Ward, Cwyka, Maguire, Tyson all vying for starting places) I think if we can win 12-13 home games this season, added with a few draws it'd give us around 40-44 points, requiring only another 20 odd points away from home (we already have 9) and we'd be looking at 60+ which in this league will get you a top half finish.. With our young squad 65+ points should relate to a good (successful?) season. Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7555-home-form/#findComment-206824 Share on other sites

However I'm worried that if this season is successful and we get a play-off spot, we pretty much have to get promoted to the PL too soon so we don't lose our youngsters to the likes of West Brom. I don't want people to notice us yet. As for our poor home form last season, it was probably just because of too high expectations. And in my opinion, Pride Park is a poor home stadium in terms of atmosphere. It's amazing how we can fill 30,000 seats but it still feels like we aren't getting behind the team. tomsdubs
I think with the cost cutting situation coming up the standard has dropped this season, I'd expect us to do a lot better than we did last season that is for sure! ramsbottom
I can see us winning around half of those games. On our day we can match anyone and unless Man U, Chelsea or Liverpool are coming to town every other week we should be looking to win every home game. I've taken a slightly pessimistic line because with the style of play we have at the mo if it doesn't happened for us in the first half the crowd could get a little edgy and the lads may struggle with confidence. I just hope we'll be greeted with the sight of Cwyka on the teamsheet again on Saturday. Him eager to make an impression, Ward on his uppers again and Theo desperate to get one over on his old club we should be going for Millwall's throats... TBH I don't think you can blame the lack of atmosphere on the ground, I don't think many of the fans put much effort into singing/chanting/making a noise. Goal celebration from half the ground seem to last seconds and are made up of standing and cheering when we score then sitting down 5 seconds later and then an applause the the goal scorers name is announced. No chants or songs seem to start from it. Obviously thats not for everyone, we do have some excellent fans at pp. Completely agree with what your saying about being semi-successful and having our youngsters poached. Scary, lets just hope it doesn't happen...or we get a Henderson/Phil Jones kind of fee for Hendrick...still I wouldn't want to see him go. trekkie_ram
Let's start small, I would like another home win by the end of Tuesday. From the next 2 home games 0pts would be dire 1pt would be disappointing 2pts would be acceptable (for me, only with decent performances) 3pts would be about par 4pts would be excellent 5pts would be questioning the maths 6pts would be perfection (for me, regardless of performance) Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7555-home-form/#findComment-207139 Share on other sites
