Ward had no excuse for missing that, I was watching a tiny TV from the back of the pub, but it looked as if he didn't even look where he was shooting. Extremely poor finishing on the few chances we made. I can't help but think if he scored that, the game would have finished differently (minus the "penalty" decision - was Mr Foy hitting the pubs before the match?) Davies has had a couple of good games, but today wasn't one of them. We need a Stevie Howard to hold up the ball, as there is absolutely no strength up front. Davies is light as a feather and you could lose Ward in a crowd of midgets. It just amuses me how quick people are to jump on players' backs. For the record, I don't think he's played that well this season... but he's shown he can be a matchwinner. Good enough for me. Yeah hes usually very quiet and you don't see him much on the ball but today he made some great runs and was the provider to most of our chances. He’s only played way up front because there’s no one else. I remember NC pointing this out as one of the obvious gaps in the squad before the start of the season. S. Davies is a poor 'classic' CF. But he only finds himself forced to play like a second-rate CF because the mid field can’t get the ball to him on the ground. Blaming S. Davies for not being S. Howard is a bit daft. He's only 32 or something I think? Just what we need in dm right now. Stevie looked fit (not in a gay way). Still might have some mileage in him.
