peachmyster
Well it's all very quite on the transfer market with us at the moment do you think we have given up on a striker and LB / holding midfield man also no one linked with bywater or Leacock and no rumors linking us with new faces after watching the performance on Tuesday there is a clear gap between defence and attack we just seemed to have no link between them and just resorted to a big hoof up field and hope for the best Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7220-not-much-happening/ Share on other sites
Ramchope
In the Mail it has a small bit about Forest 'pipping' Derby to sign Matt Derbyshire, not that the Mail is incredibly realiable, sounds like we are trying to bring players in. Bris Vegas
I actually don't think it's worth bringing anyone else in unless they're really going to improve us.. We've been linked with so many 'squad fillers' ie. Oakley, Eustace, Howard etc. That even if we did bring them in, the likelyhood is they'll only improve us by perhaps 3-4 points over a season.. That could potentially push us up to around 16th-17th if my prediction of 19th is correct. Not really worth it if it's going to cost us around $300k+ in transfer fees plus another $200k+ in wages a year.. I'd rather us bed in the youth and have them fill up the squad, and when a decent opportunity arises ie. Someone who will garauntee to improve us (another Brayford, Bailey, Shackell or Fielding) then we should snap them up.. If we're going to turn into another Coventry City (destined for lower half for the next 5-10 years before eventual relegation) I'd much rather do it with youth players that have come through our academy than the usual 28 year old plus average/journeymen (ie. Roberts, Kilbane, Tyson, Eustace, Oakley, Howard etc.) Link to comment https://dcfcfans.uk/topic/7220-not-much-happening/#findComment-194807 Share on other sites
