Burton Albion have signed goalkeeper Ross Atkins on a season-long loan from Derby County.

The 21-year-old had been on trial with the Brewers and featured in two pre-season friendlies.

Burton boss Paul Peschisolido said: "Ross has come in and shown he is a good and reliable goalkeeper."

Prior to Atkins' arrival at the Pirelli Stadium, the Brewers' only recognised keeper was 48-year-old goalkeeping coach Kevin Poole.

Atkins spent most of last season at Blue Square Bet Premier side Tamworth before being recalled to Pride Park for a brief spell as cover.

Good luck to Atkins. But in all honesty is he really ever going to play a part for us? Burton's becoming the Derby B team.

And how is Kevin Poole still playing?!?!?!?!?!:confused::confused::confused:

dont see why he shouldnt play for us

fielding could be sold in 2 years time, and then who knows?

He's only 21 - extremely young for goalkeepers who peak later than outfield players and have longer careers as Poole is proving.

Why do you think Burton is becoming the Derby B team????

Why should Kevin Poole not be playing?

Surely Burton fans must be getting a little p*ssed off with us now? We nick their manager and one of their defenders, then sign another defender that used to play for them and was sold by our manager when he was there. Then we sign their player of the year and only goal keeper. Any player who is any good is linked to us (unless they have already been here- and there have been a few). Not to mention stealing their backroom staff and to top it all off their caretaker manager was an ex- Derby player and manager and their new manager an ex- Derby player also. Along with that they seem to have to play us at least twice every pre-season! They may as well be called DCBAFC..........
