Aaron Creswell - Tranmere Rovers

Don't know how much to read into this but a friend of mine is doing a sports degree at uni in Liverpool, and he has been spending time coaching youngsters at Tranmere as part of his learning, and has made some friends there.

He seems to think we are in for this Aaron Creswell fellow. Left back played around 80 games for the club after coming through the youth team. Known as a solid left back who is also a specialist on free kicks and corners, only 21.

He has rejected a new contract at tranmere with the manager saying "Aaron has got four or five Championship clubs trying to sign him, if I had to guess I would say Aaron might be leaving us this summer."

He goes on to say "I spoke to Aaron yesterday and we've had a bid from a Championship club which we've turned down," said Parry. "It was way lower than we expect for him." Which makes me believe we may be one of the clubs in for him as he fits the profile. Young hungry player, ambitious, we need a left back. And what made me think this may be true most was the fact the the offer was way lower than what they expected for him, which seems to be our style when negotiating transfers.

Anyone know much about him?

Don't know anything about this player but if he played that many games last season (albeit at a lower level) then he could be perfect as back-up for Roberts. I agree with Albert - I don't think they are that bothered about a LB either; Glick said on Radio Derby yesterday that Shackle could cover LB as well as play CH

It could possibly be us interested. I think I saw someone on here yesterday saying that when they had spoken to Glick recently, he said that we were in for a young, hungry leftback. This article about Bayern Munich being interested in they're other young fullback Dale Jennings says below that Tranmere have already rejected a bid from a Championship club that they believe is 'lower than they had expected', and judging by our transfer activity so far this Summer, we seem to like to place lower bids for our players first and then gradually up our offer.

Meanwhile, Parry also confirmed defender Aaron Creswell has turned down a new deal with the club.

"I spoke to Aaron yesterday and we've had a bid from a Championship club which we've turned down," said Parry. "It was way lower than we expect for him.

"We're expecting everyone including Dale and Cresser to turn up on Wednesday 29th [for pre-season training] because they've got a contractual obligation to us. Until they go they're still ours."

Even though we probably are going to risk not signing a left back, its the sort of signing I wouldn't mind. A young left back to challenge the current older, experienced left back.

I'm sure the interview with TG on the BBC Derby wesite has him mentioning the purchase of a LB.

I want to see them sign a left back, but with 6 players joining so far, and a rumoured 3 more signings (CM and 2 Strikers) I just can't see us signing 10 players in one transfer window, it might happen but it doesn't usually happen.

Plus a number of people on here are saying that Glick suggests Shackell can be used as a back up left back. I would much prefer to see him stay in the middle with Barker, I don't like shifting players around in positions they don't usually play

Totally agree, I am desperate to see us have a solid and stable Centre Half pairing and I don't want it buggering about with.

He def says we're after a LB - the interview on BBC Derby website - about 1.30 into it.
