ace-arun
He has almost been forgotten now. Nigel Clough has said that he no longer got a future at Pride Park. Where do you think he will go next season.
StaffsRam
Either a free transfer during the summer or out on loan again probably. Although he's been getting games in the reserves of late hasn't he? And playing pretty well. Lost a bit of weight and got a bit of confidence back, so who knows......
tropicalgrav
I just don't think he has got a future. Clough's tactics when he first come was to play two out and out wingers, which suited Croft, but results forced a more defensive route. I guess the same goes for David Martin as well? Two wingers doing...what? I would always have a winger on the bench for a super sub role, but as both have failed to push into the first team, they are probably just not good enough to walk the hollow turf of Pride Park. tropicalgrav
Exactly the reason why I used the word "hollow"...we've really not seen any football on it have we???!!!
jamesengland
Sure him at the gym the other week, the guy looks like its impossible for him to smile. David Martin was in there too, wonder where he'll go.

Kinkladze
Surely Clough cant be so short sighted that he sees no benefit to having wingers playing in the team. God knows he screwed up last season when we were a goal up he played the old "stick with this and dont get beat" option and we lost nearly every time. There has to be times when using wingers in a game has to be an option and to dismiss it and sell them to me means he cant change the tactics much from last season all be it there will hopefully be new signings. To buy a player and discard him like he has done with both Croft and Martin neither being given a chance yet at times last season he couldnt fill the subs bench. Croft wasnt on loan so why not put him on the bench to give a least some sort of option in the game.
james_ram
Saw him in Westfield other day with Pringle, didn't seem best pleased when I asked him where he's gonna be next season, and hurried off. Pringle, on the other hand, looked at me gone out as if I'd told an joke but he didn't get it.
trekkie_ram
Lee Croft no longer appears in our squad on wikipedia, did I miss something?
RamNut
Croft would play for the first 15 minutes then disappear. Dave Martin hasnt been given a chance. the idea that we dont play with wingers is a nonsense. Ward was playing as a winger?? And there are times when we should try wingers. For example when playing against a 4-2-3-1 set up, e.g. Burnley, their full backs get no protection from the two attacking wide mem. Seems an ideal opportunity to counter with a one or even two wingers and overlapping full backs. (Unfortunately in that game we didnt have anyone playing left back so Ward was forced to tackle back all the time but thats not the point). Unfortunately that still doesn't mean Croft. Sorry. StaffsRam
I think if anyone came in for Croft during the close/pre season then I'd let him go. Failing that though I'd be inclined to work him through the summer and try him in a few friendlies. Apparently he's lost a bit of weight since he's been out on loan and had a few decent games in the reserves. He was a good player for Norwich, their POTY before he joined us wasn't he? There's a good player there somewhere, it's just a case of whether or not we can get him to be a good player for us. Martin - I agree, not given the chance. trekkie_ram
If Croft has worked hard on his fitness, he could be a breathe of fresh air this season.
p.shilton
Still don't think he will feature, Clough will be trying to get shot of him. I wonder how many times a day Croft wishes he'd stayed at Norwich?

orangefleece
i have found the signing of Martin to be a another one of Cloughs strange signings, lets buy the lad and stick him in the reserves. Pointless and a waste of money. Get Gibson on the case asking the q's as to why this lad and Crofty are not featuring .....and why Pringle is being shoved out the door so soon after signing an extension to his contract.
