Worst season since we went down from the prem. Funnily enough we were all lead to believe by our canny owners that we would storm the championship with Jewell's transformation of the side that came down.

We thought we were money bags. Not. That turned into a disaster and Clough just about saved us from the drop that year with a battered and demoralised squad. The following season little progress was made in the final positions until a freak set of results and a strong finish by us allowed us to jump about 4 places and finish 14th. So we are now at the end of this season. We finish 5 places lower, with a lot more defeats than last year. This season has been a write off ever since, the board decided to flog off both Hulse and then Commons, our only marketable assets and failed to replace them with permanent replacements. they were going to risk relegation in order to further "balance the books".

Lets hope GSE are embarressed at the shambles they have made of running our club and that they finally provide Clough with a chance to show what he can do for this club next year.

Yes im glad the season is over to. Its hard to believe that we were 4th at 1 point of the season. But another disappointing season. Hopefully Nigel Clough can pick the right players, and Tom Glick can provide the money

Lack of squad depth. No replacements when form dipped.

Derby got 49 points this season & have lost 23 games, hard to believe when you think they were 4th in the league at one point.

They had 56 points last season & lost 20 games

Derby only got 19 points from there final 23 games & lost 12 times & had a GD of -16( Commons the leading scorer was sold just before this bad run )

Thats a season average of 38 points Without Commons

With Commons in the side they managed to get 30 points in the first 23 games with a +3 GD

Thats a season average of 60 points with Commons.

I was there today and although it was a nothing match and we played ok, it really sticks in my throat that mickey mouse clubs like Reading are so much better than us. Its been an appalling season with no progress made at all. Major surgery is needed with no more penny pinching - the board have got to ensure that several millions are pumped in this summer, and Clough has got to broaden his horizons - he has to think quality and go all out to get the players we need. Nothing else is acceptable.

Yet again today I was proud to be a Rams fan, looking at the near two thousand of us who sang our hearts out, and it makes me realise that we have been taken for granted by the club for far too long. This is a critical summer for the Rams - Clough and the board ought to hang their heads in shame at the ***** they've given us for the last couple of years. No more excuses - spend the money and give us the team we bloody well deserve, or f**k off and ruin someones else's football club.

I'm very glad, at last we are promised that it's out with the old in hopefully some quality, for me especially in the midfield area, no more work horses we need some good footballers like Bailey in there. If you dominate the midfield and possession you win the majority as we actually did in our good run.

Excellent post, we do have better support than we deserve but unfortunatly this makes us attractive to speculators looking to make a buck.

I hope most people delay ST renewal untill we see some pretty green.

I'm glad the season has finished too, but looking forward to see who we bring in and also looking forward to next season already.

We have been very poor for a large part of the season and apparently had our worst 46 game season ever. But we've also looked fantastic at times during our good run and before that when we just didn't get the results.

I hope that if the right players come in we can see some more of that football consistantly and challenge for the top 6.

Must say that this season was awfully hard for me. I didn`t expect much more but there has been so much negativity all over. I just try to forget about this season and try to stay positive when it comes to next season.

Massive Transfer Window

I must agree now the season has ended we have been put out of our misery. We didn't deserve to finish higher than 19th place and in another season 49 pts would have seen us relegated. This summer is absolutely massive for Derby County, our squad was threadbare at the start of last season now it is even worse. We need to sign quality, experience at this level and also leaders on the pitch. The 2 questions that I have real doubts about are;

1) Will the board provide the amount of investment required?

2) Can Nigel Clough attract the right players?

No I think we probably need even to sign even better players than these if we are to realistically challenge for promotion for the premier league and stay there.

Totally agree, just replying to your question "can Nigel Clough attract the right players".

I don't see a problem with Clough's ability to attract decent players.

SillyBilly

The only thing that is apparent after 46 games is the fact we haven't got enough good players. Its ok whacking a list of gems down or a list of failures but after a 49 point season I'm looking at this summer as do-or-die. Clough needs to up his % of good buys as we all know its not going to be megabucks flying around.

Different debate. Lichfield asked if Clough could attract players, I don't believe thats a problem.

Its the money that matters more.
