Bris Vegas
The reserves are champs again after beating Sheff Utd 4-0. Side was Atkins Ben Davies, Leacock, Addison, Pringle Croft, Hendrick, Doyle, Martin Ball and Porter I get excited when I hear about or reserves doing so well, until I find out whose actually playing for them. Other teams use the reserves to have the link between the academy and first team.. Also added with a few players to regain fitness. Our reserve team consists of players that aren't good enough for the first team just getting abit of game-time. I'm happy for Doyle, Hendrick, Atkins and Ball to be playing.. But as for Leacock, Porter, Martin, Croft, B.Davies, Pringle and Addison what's the point? They're not our future, just merely squad players who aren't good enough. (Maybe I'm being a tad harsh on Addison and Pringle)

Alpha
Looking forward to seeing more of Hendrick and Ball. Especially Hendrick. Looks good to me.
Subman
Well surely it is a link for the youngsters? They get to link up and play with better players, even if they might be on their way out/coming back from injury etc, and thus able to improve their game. Thought Hendrick and Ball both had a good game today. Davis lost the ball a few times, Martin wasn't up for it. Leacock, Porter and Croft all played well. Croft was full of running. Ball does seem to have a good first touch and I hope he's given the opportunity to start this weekend.
Rampant Rob
I think that's the right mix. It allows squad players the chance for match practice and also the youngsters a chance to show their worth.
dwhrams
I'm no expert, but shouldn't we EXPECT to win with that team ???

ilkleyram
Blimey guys come on. In a season that hasn't been the best, we have won something. A league title won over a season, not just one game. And at least two of the regulars in that team have started to be tested in our first team and might just turn out to be good So what that we had some players today with first team experience. A fair few of them have been told through these pages on more than one occasion that they aren't fit to wear the first team shirt So what that the Blades decided to play players from their academy today - their first team has just been relegated and they want to see who to keep and who to let go because their strategy is now to rely on youth. That's why Jamie Ward may well sign for us, the same Jamie who no doubt has played for Sheff Utd's reserves this year. The boys, and management, have done good. Well done all. Keep it going, keep winning, keep developing new players and keep on making sure that those on the fringes have match practice.
ramesses
So, the reserves are champs again… ...but the set up is all wrong, we were awarded the wrong title, and we should’ve won it anyway. Sure is a tough crowd tonight.
blackNwhites
Atkins Ben Davies, Leacock, Addison, Pringle Croft, Hendrick, Doyle, Martin Ball and Porter Like the attacking line up, teaching Pringle and Davies their defensive duties with a bit of wing back flair. trooper
Went to the game, was a good turnout by derby fans, (100 or so) fielded a very strong team against a very young and to be honest poor blades team... Ball, hendrick and Doyle all played well, Doyle had a bit of time up front and was fairly impressed his his ability to hold the ball up!! BEN DAVIES WILL NEVER MAKE A RIGHT BACK! croft looks like he has lost a bit of timber and wanted the ball alot, Martin... Afraid was piss poor even at that level! And to be fair peacock and Addison were opened up a few times.. But we still bossed the game and tried to play football! Anyone else who went to the game still have the teamsheet? What was the name of there young keeper, made some quality save, the double save and the one he put round his bottom right corner in the 2nd half!! Was bloody cold in that shaded stand too!!
