Is that all you got to say oh dear? Do you think it's been a good season? Did you enjoy ten home defeats forest doing the double over us losing about ten times in last min? Oh well bloody oh dear

What were you expecting? We seem to have got relatively stable finances, some decent young players and a massively reduced wage bill. Given we were never going up or down that seems far enough to me. It takes time to breed sustainability.

Oh, and we were far worse before Nige came.

I was hoping for a better season than last season but that hasn't happened we could be in big trouble next season. Yes the wage bill has gone down but so has the quality in football. Just my thoughts but oh dear

I am happy that this season is almost over but strangely satisfied with how things have gone. We have lost twice in a row but have not disgraced ourselves in the slightest. We have beaten Leeds and Swansea, Drawn with QPR and come within a whisker of drawing at Norwich in recent weeks. Yes we had a terrible patch around Christmas and into the new year but we have shown that we have emerged with our heads up and fair play.

Please give Nige the money and backing you have promised GSE- then we can judge how far we have come!

Please explain in what ways we were worse before NLN arrived. We are winning no more games and we have a poorer squad. How many of our players would get into Norwich's team? We are likely to have the worst final position and points since relegation. Who benefits from a greatly reduced wage bill (45% of turnover?), the fans or the owners?

You say "It takes time to breed sustainability"

It appears you have swallowed the hype and spin bigtime!

Can we lock this stupid thread? We have had tons of the same over and over again.

There should a rule that as soon as some brainless cretin uses the phrase 'none league Nigel' instant bans occur.

It is so boring now!

Totally agree, it always appears to be always new members WUMs united.

There is a sensible discussion to be had as to what improvements have been secured since January 2009. Points per game and league position are matters of fact. Quality of squad is a matter of opinion. Instead of complaining about WUM why not try to counter a post with facts or sensible arguments?

Why not avoid using terms like 'non-league Nigel'. It undermines your credibility.

Non-League Warnock isn't doing too bad now is he?

As for this season I can only compare with previous 5 seasons - the bad has been no worse, and the good has been far better than any of them - including the promotion season.

Some of the football we played when we got promoted under BD was dire.

All-in-all I've enjoyed this season far more than last, so for me that's improvement.

You're right, there is a sensible discussion to be had - it's been had before but I'm happy to revisit.

People will look at points per game etc during Jewell's tenure, but if you were there, and if you saw the football, it was alot worse. There are too many variables in the argument to compare like for like with Clough. The teams in the league are different, the wage bill is dramatically different and, for part of it, the owners are different and have different ambitions. The sole purpose of the new owners since coming on board was to turn us in to a stable club. So if that's a key performance indicator, then they have succeeded.

If it was to make us top half challengers in 10/11, then they have failed, but that was never realistically the aim. Everyone knows you can't sell your best players and not replace them, and not let the quality of football suffer. It's simple stuff. We have slashed the wage bill and are now in a position to invest for next season.

So taking all the above in to consideration, no manager would have covered themselves in glory this season. It's been hard and we've had to muddle a side together that are in a position that reflects their abilities and experience.

If Nigel Clough is given a war chest to assault the league next season and we don't, then I'll be the first to criticise, but now really isn't the time to judge.

If next season is a struggle again will we all be saying he needs another year before we can judge him. How long do we give him? No one gave phil brown a chance he didn't get three years to turn things around.

I think this season will be a fair one to judge him on as it's the first one (hopefully) that we will be a net spender in terms of wages and transfer fees.
