james_ram
It would be interesting to know who people think are the fastest footballers around today? As nowadays especially in the Premier League pace and acceleration seem to be in abundance compared to technique and first touch. Obvious ones like Aaron Lennon, Theo Walcott and Gabby Agbonlahor but any others?

Bris Vegas
Are you talking just PL or overall? Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the 2 fastest footballers dribbling with the ball in the history of the game. Pretty sure this is a given fact. But without the ball these 2 whilst still ridiculously fast aren't at the same speed at Walcott, Agbonlahor, Lennon who are all 10 second 100m sprinters. The problem you have with these 3 players is that without pace they're only average footballers. For a winger Lennon can't cross, and can barely dribble, and Agbonlahor is a poor finisher and has dire movement for a striker. That Tranmere leftback (name escapes me) is really fast. Also Accrington Stanley (I think it was them) had a striker that was officially announced the fastest footballer in England over 100m. The fastest I've seen in the Champinship is probably Kebe for Reading or maybe Routledge for QPR. Bellamy used to be fast, not sure about now. Bris Vegas
pretty sure this can never be proven, so to call it fact is ridiculous I said I was pretty sure it was a given fact. As in commentators have said this, not because I've said it. And yes it can be proven.. Just as it can be proven who has the most powerful shot (Obafemi Martins 84mph). Having just had a look on a sports science programm Lionel Messi is currently 4th. In that case that 'fact' is incorrect. (But then again it depends how many times the ball is touched). Funnily enough I just put this into google and my comment is 4th on the list on the front page. I bet not many people can say that. Here is what was given for the fastest dribble ever recorded. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Guawi6tw2U

Bris Vegas
"Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are the 2 fastest footballers dribbling with the ball in the history of the game. Who was/is the fastest DCFC player to have ever played for us? (recorded)

Ambitious
I don't think I've seen that many genuinely fast Derby players, someone will probably shoot me down but I'm struggling to come up with any. Giles Barnes before he died, probably.

For a winger Lennon can't cross, and can barely dribble, I think you need to watch Lennon a little more closely. I think what you say might have been true last season but Lennon is increasingly becoming the complete winger. The coaching staff have done a fantastic job in teaching him how to cross and also how to pass.
