He's certainly not a lone striker. Infact niether was Moore. Neither is Ward, Robinson or Porter (anymore atleast!)

Kuqi was the only striker since Hulse that looked comfortable there alone.

Feel sorry for some strikers when their put up alone. Constantly getting elbows in the back, lots of thankless running and even less time facing the right way. Some strikers really enjoy it. And it's obvious when you see them play they enjoy being a nuisance. But Davies doesn't look like he enjoys it at all.

If davies was a striker, i think he would have burried that chance against cardiff! Honestly, how did he miss that??

Im a defender and I think its safe to say, the ball would be in the back of the net if the chance fell to me.

But yeh we need a tall centre forward for davies or other striker/midfielders to play off of.

I wouldn't mind Grant Holt from norwich, such a good player.

afford perhaps, but he would be one of our, if not biggest, signing of the summer (money wise). All depends on what happens with Southampton this season I guess, look like there going to go up and he wouldn't come to us in that circumstance

And don't forget he might well have been told that he couldn't spend any money and he needed to boost the confidence of the players as well as alaying the fears of the fans.

And don't forget that nobody knew Porter's career was over due to the injury.

And don't forget that Davies has been out ages with serious injury.

And don't forget that, since they've been given their chance, Clough has recognised that they're not what we need and said that we need to spend to get some decent strikers in.

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

It makes me laugh when everyone on here was saying SDavies is a brilliant lone striker, he isn't even a striker.. perhaps at a push could play in that hole behind a striker but he is a left midfield player.. that is where he has spent 99% of his career, and he does a good job there!

Play him of the left of an attacking 3. Cwyka on the right and someone good target man up front, Bailey and Green in midfield with Addison as an anchor. 4-1-2-2-1 seems perfect for our players. Add the striker needed another creative player for the attacking two. A better passer than Green in midfield and a LB who can get forward like Brayford and we look very good.

But no Davies ain't a striker and we haven't had a good striker (on a permanent basis) since Hulse and since Hulse, Kuqi is the only one for me who did anything.
