davenportram
Jake buxton has been told to concentrate on getting fit for next season, and the club has taken up an option to extend his contract for another 12 months http://www.therams.co.uk/news/Defender-Jake-told-Just-ready-season/article-3387744-detail/article.html
JohnClement
Great he should be a valuable addition to the squad for the games against Burton at the start of the season.

EastKentRam
Another pointless waste of money. A backup who's never fit, great.
NothernRam
Looks like Leacock out, Buxton in. Great. Who is next? Boulding and Porter?
dcfcdavecov
Doesn't matter because none of them play anyway. Boulding could replace Varney, makes absolutely no difference to the team.

What the f@ck we have an academy for then? Ball could replace Boulding and Varney.
Stive Pesley
The renewal of Buxton’s contract is a no-brainer. He is on next to nothing salary-wise and will happily sit on the bench and give 110% whenever called upon. Squad players you can rely on are quite a key part of having a good squad! My point was that Leacock leaving and Buxton taking his place as 4th choice CB (behind Ayala, Barker and Anderson) makes no difference to the team at all. Just makes the wage bill drop again. CumbrianRam
I'd rather we gave young O'Brien a chance.

Wasting your breath with some of these lot. They will want GSE to pay £10million on someone and pay him £20k a week to sit on the bench.

Which bench?.....treatment bench? i think this was an ok gamble for a couple of years but by now we should be finding someone younger, better, fitter etc. Same applies to Anderson. Barker, Addison, Ayala (if we must), new, O'Brien

Barker, Addison, Ayala (if we must), new, O'Brien He's just turned 26 ffs....been unlucky this season but can fill in at this level Squad ages: Fielding 22 Brayford 23 Barker 28 Ayala 20 Addison 22 Bailey 22 Green 28 Cywka 22 Doyle 20 S.Davies 23 This team could easily start any game. Don't think getting rid of players who will give everything and more importantly has experience for the wage he is on would be wise.... Throwing O'Brien into this already young, inexperienced team wouldn't be great for him imo.
rynny
Exactly, if he's not even fit enough to sit on the bench what's the point in keeping him. He has said he was fit when he wasn't to be on the bench and to try and help the team, typical of Buxton though, wants to help the team out as much as possible and not worry too much about himself. You need those type of players in a squad.
p.shilton
Players do get injured, unfortunately its part of the game. He has made a big step up and it is obviously going to be a much greater physical challenge in the championship due to the pace and quality. I think he did ok when he played, honest and hard working, he puts more of a shift in than many of our "quality" players and plays to higher standard than some! Saying he is always injured is unfair, he has just been unlucky this season, I suppose Addison should have his contract cancelled as he is "always injured" too? He is not going to be first choice and no-one is suggesting he will be, he is a steady, hardworking squad player who will be there if needed- (exactly what "back-up" means) with the massive plus he won't be on big wages!
